The objective of this project was to design a regional magazine for the city of San Diego celebrating the life and culture of the city. The magazine created was titled SanD Magazine.

 

I decided to concentrate on surfing because it is a large part of San Diego’s culture and life style, which is what I wanted to capture within the design of my article. The featured article focuses on Rob Machado, a local surfer. The design of the article features spreads that poses movement and high energy, achieved through the cropping of images and positioning them in creative ways that exemplify movement. Also incorporated is the manipulation of photographs to give a 3-D effect.

 

In addition to the spreads, the Editor’s page and an advertisement for an existing surf shop in San Diego were designed. Both pieces mimic the principles of movement and energy that were used in the spreads.
